“Yellowstone” chef Gabriel “Gator” Guilbeau said in October that star Kevin Costner has picky eating habits, which are similar to his character on the hit cowboy drama.

Guilbeau isn’t just the on-screen chef for the Dutton family, according to Delish. He also prepares meals for the entire cast and crew on-set for the filming of “Yellowstone,” and did the same for “1883.” Some days he can feed up to 300 people with comfort food like barbecue, jambalaya and gumbo. But he has to cater specifically to at least one of the biggest stars on the show.

It turns out Kevin Costner is a picky eater. “Before he met me, I think [he] solely lived off of canned chili and hot dogs,” Guilbeau told the outlet.

And the intimidating patriarch has a soft spot for desserts. “Kevin always likes to tell me he’s on a diet and off the sugar, and then he’ll ask me to make him an apple pie,” Gator says. “In the same day, usually.” (RELATED: ‘Yellowstone’ Star Offers Rare Update On Show’s Future)

When Guilbeau was hired to feed the show, he didn’t think he’d feature as heavily as he has across the five seasons. “I figured I’d be in the background of the show,” he continued. “I had a camera in front of my face … so I went back to the basics and started making dinner.” Since his first appearance, he’s been in 12 episodes of the show.
