Republican New York Rep. George Santos appeared to tease throwing his hat into the ring for the position of speaker of the House on Tuesday.

Santos tweeted a poll asking, “Santos for Speaker?”

Twitter posts preceding the New York congressman’s poll showed Santos updating followers on the candidates for speaker either advancing or dropping out.

The poll follows the failed bid of House Majority Whip Tom Emmer from Minnesota earlier in the day.

Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise of Louisiana both faced defeats in their attempts to secure the speakership. (RELATED: Trump Says ‘Jesus Christ’ Is The Only One Who Can Get 217 Votes For Speaker)

Fellow New York Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik previously tweeted a long list of speaker candidates including Reps. Byron Donalds of Florida, Pete Sessions of Texas, and Gary Palmer of Alabama.

Santos’ statement has already garnered support from the organization Gays For Trump, which responded to the poll saying, “Absolutely” with a gif of drag queen Trixie Mattel. Gays For Trump’s Twitter profile still contains a header that endorses Donalds for speaker.
