Evan Ellingson, former child star known for “CSI: Miami,” was found dead in his bedroom in a sober-living home Sunday at age 35, TMZ reports.

A coroner’s report confirmed the actor’s identity, according to the outlet. Ellingson’s father, Michael, said his son had struggled with drug addiction in the past but had been doing well at the time of his passing, TMZ reported. Officials in San Bernardino County told the outlet foul play did not seem to be a factor in his death.

Ellingson became famous as a child actor. He displayed a promising career in the entertainment industry from a very young age before apparently calling it quits on his career roughly a decade ago, according to TMZ.

He is remembered for acting opposite Cameron Diaz when he played her teenage son in the 2009 film, “My Sister’s Keeper.” Ellingson also gained fame for his role as Kyle Harmon on “CSI: Miami,” where he appeared in a total of 18 episodes over the span of three years.

The actor initially rose to fame at the age of 13 when he played a small role in a television movie, and made a guest appearance on the hit soap opera, “General Hospital,” according to TMZ.

Ellingson went on to act in “Titus,” “That Was Then” and the popular show “Mad TV.” He also appeared in “Complete Savages,” “Bones” and “24.”

Ellingson’s film credits include “Walk the Talk,” “Letters from Iwo Jima,” “The Bondage,” “The Gristle,” “Confession” and “Rules of the Game.” His last film credit appears to date back to 2010.
