Kevin Hart, a comedian who was once canceled for jokes he tweeted, was announced Wednesday as the winner of the Kennedy Center’s 2024 Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

The prize marks a high point in Hart’s redemption arc, after he lost his gig hosting the Oscars in 2018 over a series of 10-year-old tweets.

“Yo if my son comes home & try’s 2 play with my daughters doll house I’m going 2 break it over his head & say n my voice ‘stop that’s gay,'” one of the tweets read, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The audacity. A comedian, making jokes, on Twitter. He should be disgusted with himself.

Hart, after initially refusing to apologize, finally caved to the woke mob and stepped down from the hosting job.

Fast forward nearly five years and it appears all is forgiven. Hart, who has remained one of the most successful entertainers on the planet despite the public image snafu, will now receive an award from an institution flooded with liberal elites.

The Kennedy Center, a nonprofit arts foundation based in Washington, D.C., provides a platform for “world-class art by the artists that define our culture today, delivers powerful arts education opportunities nationwide, and embodies the ideals of President Kennedy in all the Center’s activities provided throughout the living memorial,” according to the center’s website. The institution’s honorary board of trustees features a trio of liberal girlboss icons in Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton and Jill Biden.

Back in 2018 Hart was inundated with attacks from a cohort of liberal blowhards, including but not limited to Kevin Fallon, a Daily Beast writer who was quick to jump on Hart’s alleged “homophobia.”

“Hiring Hart in the first place underscores the low priority culture places on combating homophobia,” Fallon wrote at the time. He’s been real quiet since the Twain prize announcement.

If you ask me, Fallon should write an open letter demanding that Obama, Clinton, Biden and the rest of the trustees immediately denounce Hart and his homophobia and find a new recipient of the award. Anything less would be inconsistent.
