Arkansas Republican Sen. Tom Cotton announced Wednesday he is endorsing former President Donald Trump to be the 47th President of the United States.
In a statement released on Twitter, Cotton said the U.S. was “safe, strong, and prosperous” under Trump, while under Biden “everything has gone to hell.” The Arkansas Republican said he looks forward to working with Trump if he is reelected in 2024 and mentioned the state of the U.S. economy, the growth of jobs and a secure border.
“When Donald Trump was president, America was safe, strong, and prosperous. The economy was booming, working-class wages were growing, our border was secure, and our enemies feared us. With Joe Biden as president, everything has gone to hell: families can’t afford groceries, our border is wide open to a full-blown invasion, and our enemies are starting wars everywhere,” Cotton said in a statement.
“I endorse President Trump and I look forward to working with him to win back the White House and the Senate so we can help hardworking Arkansans suffering from Joe Biden’s disastrous policies. The former president has picked up endorsements from seven governors, 18 Republican senators and more than 90 House Republicans. Daily Caller co-founder Tucker Carlson recently said he became an “active Trump support” when the FBI raided the former president’s Mar-a-Lago compound in August 2022. Trump remains ahead of his GOP primary opponents in all national polling, with several polls also showing Trump beating Biden in the general election. President Joe Biden is trailing Trump among Hispanic voters for a potential 2024 rematch, according to a Monday poll, which found that Trump led Biden by five points among the crucial voting bloc Democrats typically secure by large margins.
