I often say everything happens for a reason, and the Baltimore Ravens’ recent heartbreaking playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs may have happened for a very good reason: To save a woman’s life.

Star Ravens tight end Mark Andrews apparently saved a woman’s life on a flight, according to one Baltimore resident on Twitter.

“A woman on my @southwest flight from Baltimore to Phoenix this morning had a mid-flight medical emergency,” user Andrew Sprigs tweeted Thursday afternoon. “The doctor and nurse attending to her couldn’t find a strong pulse, her blood pressure was extremely low, and required oxygen to breathe. It was genuinely scary.”

Andrews, a diabetic, heroically came to her rescue.

“A man in the aisle seat popped up, ‘Could it be her blood sugar? I have a diabetic testing kit.’ It was  Ravens TE Mark Andrews,” Sprigs continued. “Andrews instructed the medical professionals (equal citizen heroes in this story) on using his test kit. Eventually her heart-rate stabilized.”

To top it all off, the star tight end asked for no credit and pulled a John Wayne humbly walked off into the sunset like the action hero he is. (RELATED: Tom Brady’s Dad Says ‘Horrible’ Bill Belichick Trait Wrecked Patriots)

“Paramedics met the flight as soon as we landed. Andrews deplaned quietly. No fanfare. As he has done his whole career, he stepped up in a huge moment when people needed him most,” Sprigs concluded.

The Ravens confirmed the news on Twitter, sending out a statement from Andrews. “In addition to the fast-acting flight attendants, the real heroes are the nurse and doctor who also happened to be on the plane. Thankfully they were able to provide the woman the quick assistance she needed,” Andrews’ statement said.

Bravo Mr. Andrews, bravo.

While Andrews will no doubt be upset that his Ravens got bounced from the playoffs, if they had beaten the Chiefs he likely would not have been on that return flight home to Baltimore. He’d probably be with his team in Las Vegas preparing for the Super Bowl like the Chiefs are now.

But God had other plans for Andrews, and the woman whose life he saved.
