Zach Bryan released the video for his latest single “Nine Ball” on Monday, featuring Matthew McConaughey, and it is amazing.

There is just something magical about Zach Bryan’s latest music video, and it’s not just because it features one of Matthew McConaughey’s best and briefest performances ever. Gen Z and Gen Alpha kids don’t remember how important music videos were before the days of song streaming; how we’d all wait and watch MTV to see our favorite bands’ creative accompaniment to their lyrical genius.

But for us “oldies,” Millennials and up, music videos could be the making or breaking of a good song, and Bryan absolutely made it in “Nine Ball.”

The video follows McConaughey’s portrayal of a drunken, gambling addict-father, who takes his young son to the local bar to partake in pool sharking. As the video progresses, we watch as his father’s influence raises the boy to become his own pool shark, and we see the boy’s internal conflict with following in his father’s footsteps.

It’s a gut-wrenching depiction of parenthood and the pressures placed on children who don’t want to live the lives laid out for them. (RELATED: ‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff Report Reveals Major Updates On Matthew McConaughey, Other Casting)

The video also featured Tye Sheridan, who starred alongside McConaughey in the movie “Mud,” and Scott Shepard. We most recently saw Shepard in the series “The Last Of Us,” and he seems to be playing a pretty scary character in this video too! Enjoy.
