House Oversight Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) sent a letter Wednesday to Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm inviting her to testify at a scheduled oversight hearing.

The Daily Caller first obtained a copy of the letter where Comer asks Granholm to show up to a May 15 hearing and provide the committee with testimony on a number of issues, including why the DOE has failed to provide information to the Oversight Committee over the DOE’s misuse of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, the DOE’s halt of liquified natural gas exports, Granholm’s taxpayer-financed summer 2023 electric vehicle excursion and increased spending levels.

In the letter, Comer also mentions that the DOE has declined to make Granholm available for other proposed dates and says they will only allow the Deputy Secretary to testify. (RELATED: Energy Secretary Traveled To Tout Green Tech, Police Were Involved When There Weren’t Enough EV Chargers)

“In the 118th Congress, the Oversight Committee has worked expeditiously to expose the Biden Administration’s radical environmental policies and unchecked regulations that have jeopardized economic opportunities, raised energy costs on Americans, and hurt small businesses. Over the past few months, the Committee has engaged in good faith with the Energy Department to solidify a future date for DOE Secretary Granholm to testify at a public hearing, yet the Department continues to indicate the Secretary is unavailable for any proposed hearing dates,” Comer told the Caller before sending the letter.

“Americans deserve to hear directly from Secretary Granholm and any attempt to subvert meaningful congressional oversight is unacceptable. DOE must avoid any further delay in scheduling, and I look forward to Secretary Granholm’s testimony on May 15,” he added. (RELATED: Jennifer Granholm’s Favored EV Doesn’t Qualify For Biden Admin’s Subsidy Due To Chinese Components)

Comer called for a response to his invitation by April 3.
