Bath Time: The Text Messages That Killed, The Spelling Bee Interview From Hell

B-U-L-L-Y-I-N-G, Bullying – That’s what CNN hosts Alisyn Camerota and Chris Cuomo did to 12-year-old Indian-American Ananya Vinay, the 2017 Scripps National Spelling Bee champion.

While on the show last Friday, the duo asked Vinay — who grew up in Fresno but is Indian American — to spell Trump’s invented word, “covfefe.”

Vinay asked for the definition and language of origin. Camerota replied, “A nonsense word made up by the 45th president of the United States in a late-night tweet,” and “gibberish.”

Camerota and Cuomo, clearly amused by the young girl’s confusion, treated her accomplishment like a game of Tic-Tac-Toe.

Pushing racial boundaries, Camerota added, “So we’re not sure its root is in Sanskrit, which is what you’re probably used to using.”

Making fun of a 12-year-olds race? Not very nice. The entire world shook their heads in disapproval of the pair’s racist and distasteful actions. That’s three X’s, CNN. Watch the whole exchange here.

Fired FBI Director James Comey has President Trump on edge – My palms would be sweating too if my fate was in the hands of one man’s testimony.

Comey will testify this Thursday on Russia’s possible involvement in the 2016 election at what CNN calls “Washington’s Super Bowl.”

After braving the storm of endless criticism for his London attack tweets, President Trump faces more dark clouds ahead.

No one really knows what to expect of Comey’s testimony, but it seems like it can’t possibly live up to the hype the media has built over these past few days.

The one thing we do know is Comey has nothing to lose, which is why he poses such a threat.

“Comey might be one of the few people over whom Trump has zero leverage. He cannot fire Comey again, nor threaten him,” Jennifer Rubin of the Washington Post said.

It seems to me that the media just wants to see Trump tremble, but time will tell. Read more of what CNN says to expect here.

WILDCARD STORY…Technology blurs the lines of the law – If you’re not physically with someone at his time of death does that mean you can’t commit manslaughter?

That’s what 20-year-old Michelle Carter’s attorney is trying to prove at her trial today.

Carter was charged with indirect manslaughter for encouraging her then 18-year-old boyfriend, Conrad Roy III, to commit suicide three years ago.

Roy was battling depression and suicidal thoughts when he turned to his girlfriend for support. The couple exchanged not one, but hundreds of text messages over several days. Carter not only urged Roy’s suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning, but guilted him for delaying it.

“So I guess you aren’t gonna do it then, all that for nothing … I’m just so confused like you were so ready and determined,” Carter said.

“Just go somewhere in your truck. And no one’s really out right now because it’s an awkward time,” she persisted.

In the car with him or not, Carter influenced Roy’s decision and with a growing number of texters, this is sure to become a landmark decision. Here’s more about this unusual case.
