Trump campaign and White House officials downplayed recently leaked comments reportedly from President Donald Trump’s sister, which were critical of the president.

Secretly recorded audio of Maryanne Trump Barry, Trump’s oldest sister who recently retired from her position as a federal judge, was published by The Washington Post on Sunday. However, White House officials downplayed the leaked criticisms Sunday, according to The Post.

“I can tell you that I’ve never met the judge,” said White House chief of staff Mark Meadows on ABC News Sunday, The Post reported. “I was at the funeral the other day. I was hoping to meet her there. She didn’t show up for her brother’s funeral.”

Meadows referenced the funeral of Robert Trump, the president’s brother, who died on Aug. 15. The funeral took place on Friday at the White House, The New York Times reported. (RELATED: Mary Trump Says She Has Heard Trump Use The N-Word, Anti-Semitic Slurs)

In the leaked tape, Barry said the president “has no principles” and that “you can’t trust him,” according to The Post. Mary Trump, Donald Trump’s niece who recently wrote a book critical of the president, is the person who recorded Barry and leaked the audio to The Post.

“All he wants to do is appeal to his base,” said Barry in the leaked audio, according to The Post. “He has no principles. None. None. And his base, I mean my God, if you were a religious person, you want to help people. Not do this.”

She added: “His goddamned tweet and lying, oh my God.”

Trump campaign adviser Jason Miller responded to Barry’s comments on “Meet the Press” Sunday saying sibling rivalries are “nothing new in the world,” according to The Post.

“Unfortunately, when you get to the White House, you have family members who sometimes decide to voice their sibling rivalries or frustrations,” Miller said. “Nothing new, but going into next week, it’s not something that’s going to be an issue.”
